BuzzKill powers off your Android phone after a chosen period of inactivity, but only during a configured nightly kill zone. It gives you defined shutdown behavior instead of relying solely on a manual power-off action. The app is suited to people who want a phone to turn itself off overnight or after it has been left unused for a set interval.

A setting controls whether a confirmation dialog appears before the first shutdown. A test trigger starts a 10-second countdown and performs a dry run, allowing you to verify the configuration without powering off the device or risking unsaved work. Morning restoration relies on Android’s built-in scheduled power-on feature; BuzzKill cannot enable that feature, so its onboarding checklist reminds you to configure it separately.

BuzzKill uses an Android accessibility service to operate the system power controls, making accessibility access a requirement. It also needs permission to disable battery optimization so OxygenOS does not stop its foreground service, while Android 13 and later require notification permission for the persistent kill-zone notification. It runs on Android 8.0 and newer across arm64-v8a, armeabi-v7a, x86_64, and x86 devices.

As an open-source Android System Tools title, BuzzKill provides its source code, issue tracker, and contributing guide through GitLab. Pixel, Samsung, and Xiaomi support can be added with a data-only change in the designated source directory, using the per-OEM power-dialog matching strings. Version 1.0.10 adds an F-Droid feature graphic, with the remaining changes limited to documentation and release tooling rather than app behavior.
