SearchLauncher

SearchLauncher is an open-source system tool for Android that places a keyboard-driven search field at the center of the home screen. It is intended for people who want to reach apps, information, device functions, and web content without relying on a large collection of icons. It can be used as the default launcher or added as a widget to an existing launcher.

The search field can find apps, app shortcuts, contacts, device settings, downloads, calendar events for the coming week, text snippets, and custom actions. Its ranking learns from the items a user selects, helping frequently chosen results appear more readily over time. Search prefixes can send a query directly to services such as YouTube, Maps, or Wikipedia, and users can add shortcuts for sites with search URLs and assign their own letters. The field also recognizes inputs such as sums, web addresses, timers, phone numbers, and email addresses, offering the relevant action for each type.

Web results open inside SearchLauncher’s browser, where advertisements and trackers are blocked by default. Tabs can be changed or viewed as live previews from the home screen, and visited pages can be saved under chosen titles and found again through search. The browser includes private windows, file uploads, picture-in-picture video, and hardware keyboard shortcuts. Users can add and resize widgets by searching for their names, arrange widgets in columns on tablets, change wallpapers and theme behavior, and enable options such as dark mode, true-black OLED mode, monochrome icons, favourites, voice search, and setup export and import.

Nothing is sent anywhere by default, while search suggestions are optional. As an Android application in the System Tools category, SearchLauncher fits devices where the home screen, search, widgets, and web access are handled together. MirrorNest distributes the official build directly from its own storage and scans it for malware before publishing. Its open-source license allows the software to be used as an openly developed Android utility rather than a closed platform component.
