Captain's Deck1.5.4

Copy, move, and compare files between two side-by-side directories with keyboard commands instead of juggling Finder windows. Captain’s Deck provides an orthodox dual-pane file manager for people who prefer a structured alternative to Finder, ForkLift, or Commander One. It suits macOS power users managing local folders, Git repositories, and files on remote systems while keeping Finder available alongside it.

A full PTY embedded in the window follows the active pane, so changing directories in zsh updates the file view and changing locations in the interface updates the shell through bidirectional OSC 7 synchronization. The terminal retains your ~/.zshrc and supports ANSI color and mouse input, while remote connections cover SFTP, FTP, S3, SMB, WebDAV, MinIO, DigitalOcean Spaces, and Backblaze B2; saved credentials are held in the macOS Keychain. Git integration is built in, and Spotlight metadata search can be followed by deeper grep searches with regular expressions inside files.

Vim-style hjkl controls work alongside traditional arrow keys, and an F1 overlay reveals the available shortcuts. ZIP, 7z, RAR, TAR, GZ, BZ2, and XZ archives can be opened as browsable directories, inspected, compressed, or extracted from the same interface. The application combines native Swift and AppKit code with a C++ core for file-operation performance.

Captain’s Deck 1.5.2 is freeware for Intel and Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 14 Sonoma or later.
