About
Move and fire through an Atari-style Centipede arcade game on Windows, clearing enemies while avoiding threats that descend into the playfield. Use the arrow keys to move and Ctrl to shoot, or play with the mouse from the startup page.
Centipedes travel horizontally and move downward when they reach an edge or mushroom. Shooting a segment turns it into a mushroom, while hitting a centipede can split it and create another head. Regular mushrooms take four shots to destroy, and poison mushrooms send a centipede straight downward after contact.
Spiders move quickly along the lower screen, scorpions cross the upper area and turn mushrooms poisonous, and fleas fall while leaving mushrooms behind. Points vary by target, from 10 for body segments to 1,000 for scorpions, and reaching 12,000 points awards an extra life. Centipede (Portable) is PJ Crossley’s remake of the classic game, with version 2011.09.19.
