Checker Plus for Gmail™ for Chrome

Incoming Gmail messages can appear as desktop alerts in Chrome, letting you read and manage email without opening Gmail or Inbox by Gmail. Checker Plus for Gmail™ for Chrome, developed by Jason Savard, can monitor several Gmail and Google Apps accounts from the browser.

New-message alerts may use desktop sounds, custom audio, or text-to-speech voices. They can also display the sender with a contact photo or another image assigned to that person. A popup preview lets you read, archive, mark as read, or delete messages while staying on the current tab. Users can select particular Gmail labels to monitor and use an offline view for checking mail.

When its background option is enabled, the extension continues delivering notifications while Chrome is closed. It supports Inbox by Gmail and can appear as a widget in FVD Speed Dial or Awesome New Tab Page. The interface follows Material Design, and its permissions are described as minimal, limited to Google Mail’s website. Version 19.3.8 is freeware for Windows and is used through Chrome with Gmail or Google Apps accounts.
