About

ChunkFS (Install) creates a read-only virtual drive from one or more existing files, presenting their contents as separate pieces. You can set the size of an individual piece or define sizes for groups of pieces rather than using a fixed chunk arrangement. The resulting drive view provides a way to organize data into archive-ready chunks without altering the original files.

Its primary use is preparing large files or collections of files for storage across optical media such as DVD-R and BD-R. By matching the chunks to the capacity of the intended discs, it helps users span and fill media during a multi-disc archiving process. This is useful with burning programs that do not include file-spanning support, including ImgBurn. The intended audience is therefore people assembling disc-based archives rather than users seeking an everyday writable drive.

ChunkFS runs in user mode and relies on the Dokan kernel-mode driver to provide user-mode file-system support on Windows. As a read-only system tool, it exposes data for packaging but does not function as a general-purpose writable volume. Published by tws6122, the current version is 0.20.10. It is marked as freeware, while official release information should be consulted for the applicable licensing terms.
