clippy records clipboard items so you can retrieve text, formatted content, images, and files instead of relying on the most recent copy operation. It accepts plain text, HTML, RTF, images, and files, preserving both unformatted entries and content with formatting. Built with Rust and TypeScript, it is suited to writing, research, design, and file-handling workflows that repeatedly reuse clipboard material.

Images receive thumbnails, while built-in OCR extracts text from copied images in more than 100 languages and makes that text searchable. File entries retain metadata, and smart search can find links, colors, images, and hexadecimal color codes. A typing function can enter clipboard content in places that block ordinary pasting, using Ctrl+B.

Users can clear history by content type and set separate size limits for different kinds of clipboard data. Global hotkeys cover all functions, an autostart option connects clippy to the Windows session, and Ctrl+Y or Ctrl+D toggles its display. Google Drive integration synchronizes history and favorites, with encryption applied to clipboard data sent through that service.

The current 1.7.3 release is open-source System Tools software for Windows on x64, requiring Windows 8 or later or Windows Server 2012 or later. Its multi-content history and search tools fit people who frequently move formatted text, visual references, links, or files between applications.
