About
CoMaps gives travelers offline maps, place search, and route guidance using crowd-sourced OpenStreetMap data, so trips can continue abroad or in remote areas with GPS instead of mobile data. It supports waypoint searches on hiking trails and bike paths, then provides turn-by-turn directions for walking, cycling, and driving, including voice announcements. CoMaps runs on Android, iOS, and Linux; the Linux edition still lacks some features found on the mobile editions and has not been optimized for mobile devices.
Outdoor mode highlights hiking trails, campsites, and water sources, while optional contour lines help with judging terrain and planning ascents. Offline Wikipedia articles provide background about notable places such as peaks encountered along a route. Drivers and cyclists can also use the map for regular navigation, and a public-transport layer covers subway and light-rail planning in a growing list of cities. The app is designed to use battery efficiently during navigation.
CoMaps is built by a non-profit community project for travelers, tourists, hikers, drivers, and cyclists, with map contributions, feedback, and code contributions coordinated through Codeberg. It is open-source and operates without ads, tracking, or data collection.
Requires Linux + Flatpak · Architecture: x86_64, aarch64
