CommandQ intercepts an accidental ⌘Q press so an application does not quit before you have a chance to stop it. Instead of exiting immediately, the app waits until you hold ⌘Q for a short delay, allowing you to release the keys if you meant to press ⌘W and close a window.

You can enable the protection across all your applications or limit it to specific apps. CommandQ can also guard against accidentally closing windows, extending its protection beyond the quit shortcut.

This MacOS System Tools utility is intended for anyone who frequently switches between ⌘Q and ⌘W, including people working quickly across multiple applications or using keyboard shortcuts extensively. It is particularly useful when an unintended quit could interrupt active work or discard an application’s current state.
