About

ConfigureDefender lets users inspect and adjust important built-in Defender antivirus settings through a compact graphical interface. It is published by AndyFul and can operate as a standalone portable program, although it is also part of the Hard_Configurator project and includes its source files. The utility targets Defender on Windows 10, Windows 11, and Windows Server 2019 or later.

The x86 executable runs on both 32-bit and 64-bit systems, and it uses PowerShell cmdlets for most changes, with a few exceptions. Users can apply one of four predefined protection levels: DEFAULT, HIGH, INTERACTIVE, or MAX. MAX enables restrictive blocking through Attack Surface Reduction, Controlled Folder Access, SmartScreen, and cloud protection. That configuration can cause many false positives even in home use and is not recommended for business environments.

ConfigureDefender suits people who want more direct control over Defender settings than the standard Defender Security Center exposes, including advanced users managing security policies. Version 4.0.1.1 adds two ASR rules and corrects several issues in the help files and manual.
