DDNet lets players work together online to complete custom platforming maps inspired by Teeworlds. It is an actively maintained version of DDRace, itself a Teeworlds modification built around cooperative play. Teams can attempt maps with as many as 128 players, coordinating their progress through obstacles and hazards rather than simply racing alone. Official servers operate around the world, and rankings earned on them are available internationally.

Players can enter international tournaments that measure teams against highly skilled competitors on specially selected maps. DDNet also supports creating custom maps and running a personal server, giving experienced players tools for both content creation and community hosting. Tournament events can use dedicated servers at every DDNet location, with formats ranging from team 0 participation and unrestricted team sizes to fixed two-player teams. Some contests award victory to the first team to finish, while others compare completion times during a three-hour competition.

The ranking system adds demo playback for leading finishes: after two weeks, a player can select a finish time on a map’s DDNet ranking page to watch its recorded run. Some top-rank demos may still be unavailable, with coverage potentially extending to the five best times per map. This MacOS game, version 20.1.1, supports both Intel and Apple Silicon hardware and is offered under a freeware license.
