DeBurrow lets Android users browse Gopher menus, read text files, and view images from the text-first, pre-web Gopher protocol. Built natively with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, it provides a focused way to explore Gopherspace for readers interested in classic internet services and lightweight, text-oriented resources.

Its viewer displays ANSI-colored text and wraps words for easier reading, while a one-tap no-wrap mode preserves the alignment of fixed-width maps and tables. Veronica, including type-7 search, supplies a query prompt and tappable results for finding content across Gopher servers. Address-bar navigation, bookmarks, browse history, and search history make recurring destinations easier to revisit.

DeBurrow downloads binary items, caches responses, and supports TLS through gophers:// connections. It can open gopher:// and gophers:// links from other apps, including when DeBurrow is already running, and its Material 3 interface includes adaptive theming and an Android 13-themed launcher icon. The app has no accounts, trackers, or ads, and its open-source code suits users who want a transparent Gopher client.

The current version is 2.0.4 and requires Android 7.0 or later on arm64-v8a, armeabi-v7a, x86_64, or x86 devices. ANSI pages now use a black backdrop matching the xterm palette, so gray and white artwork remains readable with the light theme instead of blending into the Material surface.
