Save a complete Mac appearance as a profile, including wallpaper, accent color, Dock behavior, Stage Manager, and themes for supported applications. Desktop Composer applies these settings with one click, so a work setup, a focused environment, or a clean screen-sharing desktop can be restored together. It manages more than wallpaper: backgrounds can use an image, solid color, or gradient, while the system can switch between light and dark mode and clear or tinted effects.

The appearance controls also cover icon and widget styling, widget and icon visibility, Stage Manager activation, menu-bar auto-hide, and Dock auto-hide, size, and magnification. Profiles can include themes for Xcode, Obsidian, VS Code, and other popular apps that Desktop Composer supports. You can edit one setting within an existing profile without rebuilding it, or schedule profiles to change automatically at a chosen time of day.

Desktop Composer is aimed at Mac users who want consistent appearance changes across macOS and compatible app themes, particularly when switching between work, mood, focus, and presentation setups. iCloud synchronizes profiles across devices, and the app is also available through Setapp. Version 1.2 requires macOS 26 Tahoe or newer and runs on both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs.

Desktop Composer is freeware, while the developer describes its licensing as a one-time payment covering the current major version, with future major upgrades potentially requiring payment. It is not available on the Mac App Store because sandbox restrictions prevent changing all of the supported system and application appearance settings. More themed applications are planned, but future macOS or third-party app changes may affect how reliably individual features continue to work.
