About
Desktop Scriptures is an open-source scripture reader for Linux in the education category. It provides offline access to the Bible, the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price. The application is intended for readers who want to study these texts from a desktop computer without relying on an internet connection.
Users can search the scripture collection by keyword to locate relevant passages. Personal notes and tags support individual study records and allow readers to add their own context to the material. Verse highlighting provides a way to mark passages for later reference. A reading streak records ongoing reading activity as part of the study experience.
The software is suitable for personal study, classroom-related reading, and other educational uses involving the included scripture texts. Its offline design keeps the core reading and study functions available when network access is unavailable. Desktop Scriptures is unofficial and is not produced by or affiliated with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
MirrorNest provides the Linux build by mirroring the official build directly on its own storage. The mirrored file is scanned for malware before publication. Its open-source license and Linux packaging place Desktop Scriptures within MirrorNest’s catalog of education software for users seeking a locally installed scripture study tool.
