Fcitx5 (Chewing Plugin)

Fcitx5 (Chewing Plugin) lets an Android user enter Chinese text by typing Zhuyin, also called Bopomofo, through the Fcitx5 input framework. It adds the Chewing input-method engine to Fcitx5 for Android, allowing phonetic symbols to serve as the basis for composing Chinese characters. Once active in Fcitx5, it handles Chewing-style text entry inside apps that accept the Android keyboard.

The plugin is intended for people who already use Zhuyin or want a Bopomofo-based way to write Chinese on a phone or tablet. It fits everyday typing in messaging, notes, documents, and other Android text fields where phonetic Chinese input is useful. Its main distinction is that it brings the Chewing method specifically to the Fcitx5 environment rather than offering a separate keyboard system.

Fcitx5 (Chewing Plugin) runs on Android 6.0 and later and is built for the arm64-v8a architecture. The current version is 0.1.3-0-g048f581c, and the project is open-source.
