Collect RSS and Atom feeds in one desktop reader, then browse articles without the distractions of a conventional web feed. Fluent Reader is a local, cross-platform news aggregator with a fresh interface, suited to people who follow many publications on a Mac and want their reading in one place. It can synchronize sources with Inoreader or Feedbin, as well as services compatible with the Fever and Google Reader APIs.

You can also import an OPML file and keep the feeds locally, arrange them into groups, and transfer your setup between computers with complete data backups. Its built-in article view presents RSS full text in a focused reading layout. When a feed supplies only excerpts, Mercury Parser can retrieve the full article, while the app can instead load the webpage internally or open it externally by default.

Regular-expression search covers both article titles and full contents, and custom regular-expression rules can filter incoming items. Articles can be marked starred, hidden, or unread to support different reading workflows. The software keeps data under your control, blocks XSS in an isolated context, enforces a strict Content Security Policy, supports PAC proxy configuration, and collects no personal information.

Fluent Reader is open-source freeware in the Reading & Writing category for macOS, with current version 1.2.2 requiring macOS 12 Monterey or later on Intel or Apple Silicon hardware. Its interface and article view follow the system-level dark-mode setting, including a black-themed reading experience.
