Focused3.6

Focused gives Mac users a quiet Markdown workspace for drafting papers, blog posts, and other web-ready writing without the clutter of a conventional editor. Its readable plain-text syntax lets writers mark structure with characters such as “#” for a title, avoiding the need to learn HTML while remaining compatible with many blogging platforms. The app is designed around the writing process itself, deliberately leaving out features that are unrelated to composing and editing.

A word counter helps meet a target, while a character counter supports strict length limits without covering the document in panels. Auto Save protects ongoing work, and Versions lets you recover an earlier edit if a passage needs to be restored. Zen Mode adds eight calming soundtracks intended to reduce outside distractions and make concentrated writing less stressful. Comprehensive keyboard shortcuts let users format and organize Markdown without leaving the keyboard, and the sharing function generates the web content rather than requiring the writer to create code.

Focused comes from 71Squared and builds on the Typed app from Realmac Software; it suits students, bloggers, and anyone preparing prose for online publication. It runs on MacOS 10.13 or newer, supports Intel and Apple Silicon Macs, and is freeware in the Reading & Writing category. The current release is version 3.6,1853.
