greenfoot3.9.0

Create Java actors, place them in a graphical world, and observe the behavior produced by your code as the project runs. Greenfoot connects visual tools with Java programming so learners can experiment with objects and immediately see how their instructions affect a scene. Its central model separates actors, which perform actions, from worlds, which contain and organize them.

This structure supports games, simulations, and other graphical exercises while giving students a concrete way to explore object-oriented programming. Actors can be created, positioned, and programmed inside a project, making abstract Java concepts visible through movement and interaction. The application is designed for education, particularly classroom lessons, guided practice, and independent programming exercises. Teachers and learners can discuss, share, and interact through the Greenfoot user community, while instructors can exchange teaching resources with one another.

DavidoTek presents Greenfoot as running on Windows, macOS, and Linux; this cataloged build requires Linux with snapd and targets x86_64 (amd64) systems. It is open-source education software, and the current version is 3.9.0. The official Introduction to Programming with Greenfoot book is used by both teachers and students, providing a companion learning resource for the programming activities.
