gw runs Gradle builds through ./gradlew and returns a compact output stream designed for AI coding agents. It removes daemon banners, dependency-download messages, task lifecycle lines, project-configuration output, deprecation notices, and passing-test chatter, while retaining errors, warnings, failure blocks, test failures with stack traces, and BUILD SUCCESSFUL or BUILD FAILED status. It can also wrap commands such as ./mainframer ./gradlew or ssh host './gradlew ...', so remote and layered build commands receive the same filtering.

Every roughly three seconds, gw writes a stderr heartbeat showing the active task, its age, cumulative task progress, and a slow marker after one task exceeds GW_HEARTBEAT_SLOW_SECS, whose default is 60 seconds. The final stderr summary reports task and test counts, error and warning totals, and the full-log location, while the unfiltered record remains at ./build-logs/gw-<timestamp>.log.

gw init configures Claude Code by default and can target other agents or several at once; hook-based agents generally rewrite commands transparently, while Cursor rejects the call with a userMessage telling the agent to retry with gw. Rules-based agents such as codex, cline, and windsurf use <!-- gw:begin --> and <!-- gw:end --> markers, limiting updates or removal to that block. The read-only gw doctor command audits global and local agent settings, identifying installed, legacy, incomplete, or absent hooks with ✓, ⚠, ✗, and - symbols, while gw upgrade reapplies current wiring and migrates its on-disk layout idempotently.

Developed by AndVl1, version 0.2.13 is open-source software for x64 Windows 8 and later, including Server 2012 and later. The current release corrects hook ordering, migrates legacy configurations, and detects conflicting hooks.
