Hangar lets Windows developers start, stop, and restart Apache, Nginx, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Mailpit with one-click controls, while managing local web projects from one interface. Its single-binary Wails UI also bundles Node and multiple PHP runtimes, providing an open-source alternative to XAMPP, WAMP, and Laragon.

PHP 7.3 and 8.1 through 8.5 can be selected globally or pinned per project; Hangar creates php.ini files with Composer-friendly extensions including mbstring, openssl, pdo_mysql, pdo_pgsql, curl, zip, intl, fileinfo, gd, exif, and sodium, and places the active PHP on the system PATH. The project manager recognizes Laravel, WordPress, Symfony, generic PHP, static, Node, and PocketBase projects, then creates Apache and Nginx vhosts, hosts-file entries, and separate access, error, and SSL logs. Embedded mkcert provides one-click local HTTPS, while the built-in DNS server resolves *.test domains.

Its MCP server listens on 127.0.0.1:3742 and exposes 14 tools to Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, or another MCP-capable agent for service control, SQL execution, schema auditing, and SSL changes. Service views show status, ports, uptime, and PIDs; configuration changes trigger restarts, heavy database startup runs without blocking the UI, and services continue running when Hangar is minimized to the tray. A database auditor produces runnable .sql migration files, and the launcher opens phpMyAdmin, HeidiSQL, DBeaver, VS Code, PocketBase, and Mailpit.

Hangar suits developers building and testing PHP, database, Node, and local HTTPS projects. Version 1.0.0 is the initial public release; it is open-source x64 software for Windows 10 or later and Windows Server 2016 or later.
