HomeBot lets you assign a custom action to a long press of the device’s Home button. The gesture can launch an installed app, open a web page, toggle the flashlight, display the recent apps screen, or change the device’s brightness. It suits Android users who want a frequently used function available from a single physical or on-screen button gesture.

Written in Kotlin, the app turns the Home-button shortcut into a configurable entry point for selected actions rather than a fixed system behavior. To route the gesture through HomeBot, select it as the Assistant app in Settings > Apps > Advanced > Default apps > Assist & voice input. HomeBot does not require root access for this configuration.

On Pixel devices, assigning HomeBot as the Assistant app might disable Active Edge squeezing to trigger Google Assistant. HomeBot 1.2 is an open-source System Tools utility for Android 6.0 and later, with Universal architecture.
