HWMonitor lets you inspect a computer’s operating condition through live readings for voltages, temperatures, fan speeds, power, current, utilization, and clock speeds. It gathers these measurements from available hardware sensors, helping users track heat, cooling, power behavior, and component activity from one interface. The program is published by CPUID, Inc. as freeware for Windows, with an x86 build intended for both x86 and x64 Windows environments.

It monitors processors and graphics cards, while also reading features exposed by LPCIO chips such as ITE IT87, Winbond, and Nuvoton controllers. Thermal sensors built into memory modules are supported, extending monitoring beyond the CPU and GPU. For storage devices, HWMonitor reads S.M.A.R.T. data from SSDs and hard disks to show drive health-related measurements.

Battery readings make it useful on portable computers as well as desktop systems, and its broad component coverage suits maintenance checks, temperature observation, fan diagnostics, and hardware troubleshooting. Users can view sensor information from several parts of a PC without switching between separate monitoring utilities.

Version 1.68 adds PCI Express error counters for AMD and Intel GPUs, along with NPU power, NPU clocks, NPU TOPS, TOPS per watt, NPU DRAM bandwidth usage, global platform power, and DRAM read and write bandwidths on AMD Strix Point, Strix Halo, and Kraken Point systems. It also introduces HDD IOPS, average latency, and NVMe controller link-speed metrics, while remembering the state of device and sensor-type nodes.
