It scans nearby Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) iBeacon advertisements and passes detected beacon data into Tasker automation tasks. This lets an Android device react to nearby beacons instead of treating beacon scanning as a separate tracking service. Scans can accept every iBeacon or narrow matches by UUID, major value, minor value, and minimum RSSI. Each matching result becomes local data for the automation task, including the beacon UUID, major and minor values, RSSI, advertised transmission power, estimated distance, Bluetooth address, and scan timestamp.

Tasker or another Locale-compatible automation host is required for integrated automations. Tasker scans run when requested, while an optional compatibility monitor can help on devices where background scanning is unreliable. The launcher screen provides permission controls and a way to test scans without Tasker. The monitor requests notification permission so Android 13 and later can show its silent foreground-service notification, and background location permission is requested because Android treats Bluetooth LE scan results as location-capable, including scans started after the app is no longer visible.

iBeacon Tasker Plugin is an open-source Android app for users building proximity-based device automations, such as actions triggered when a particular beacon enters range. Version 0.1.0 is the initial release, introducing iBeacon scanning, Tasker plug-in integration, and returned Tasker variables. It supports Android 6.0 and later with Universal architecture.
