About

JPEG Lossless Rotator corrects sideways or upside-down JPEG photos so they display in the intended orientation on screen. It is useful when a camera or phone was held vertically or horizontally while taking pictures, leaving some images with the wrong presentation.

Instead of decoding each JPEG into a bitmap and encoding it again, the program applies a special transformation to the image’s internal blocks. This avoids the quality reduction associated with repeated JPEG recoding while preserving the existing image data as the rotation is made. The program works with JPEG photographs and is intended for correcting orientation rather than editing image content. It can be used on photos transferred from cameras or phones before they are viewed, organized, or shared.

JPEG Lossless Rotator runs on Windows and presents its controls through a simple multilingual interface. Its straightforward operation makes it suitable for inexperienced computer users as well as people who regularly need to correct batches of incorrectly oriented photographs. The main distinction is that it addresses a common presentation problem without introducing another JPEG compression pass.
