JRBP Survey guides registered volunteers to designated locations in the Jasper Ridge Biological Preserve while they carry out an ant survey. At each site, participants can identify ants and enter the species observations they collect in the field. The application is intended only for people taking part in this specific survey, not for general travel planning.

Navigation and field data entry are brought together so volunteers can reach the correct survey locations and document their findings in one Android application. Recorded observations can be uploaded to the survey’s central database, with the current version sending data to a project Google Sheets spreadsheet. This combination suits the preserve’s recurring biological fieldwork, where accurate location guidance and consistent observation records are both important.

Researchers coordinating the survey and its registered volunteer participants are the intended users, particularly during visits to marked areas across the preserve. Version 1.9.1 supports Android 6.0 and newer on arm64-v8a, armeabi-v7a, x86_64, and x86 architectures.

JRBP Survey is open-source software released under the GNU General Public License, version 3 or any later version. Its navigation uses Mapsforge, while the application also incorporates AndroidSVG, Joda-Time, Apache Commons IO, Google Material icons, and repackaged GNU FreeFont assets under their respective published licenses.
