KUKSA Companion App

Connect a device running Android 8.1 or later to a vehicle with an integrated KUKSA Databroker, then use KUKSA Companion App to inspect vehicle signals and exercise its actuators. It reads sensor data and sends control requests through the KUKSA Android SDK, providing a practical demonstration of how vehicle applications communicate with the Databroker. Its built-in showcases cover door control, temperature control, light control, and tire-pressure checks.

The KUKSA framework uses the COVESA Vehicle Signal Specification (VSS), which gives vehicle data entries consistent names and meanings in a tree-like structure; Vehicle.Speed, for example, represents the vehicle’s current speed. VSS describes the signals but does not dictate how a vehicle collects, manages, or exposes them. KUKSA Databroker is a resource-efficient VSS signal-tree implementation intended for a vehicle’s microprocessor platform, with a high-level gRPC interface for querying signals, changing current and target sensor or actuator values, and receiving notifications when selected signals change.

The app is useful to SDK developers, vehicle software engineers, and teams demonstrating or validating signal access and actuator control in an in-vehicle integration. It requires a vehicle running the KUKSA Databroker, making it suited to development demonstrations involving real or integrated vehicle data.

The open-source 0.1.3 release supports arm64-v8a, armeabi-v7a, x86_64, and x86 architectures, improves the Settings screen design, and fixes a crash caused by an invalid Databroker IP address.
