Location Share lets you display your current location and pass it to selected people through a compatible sharing option or by copying it to the clipboard. It addresses the need to decide exactly how and with whom a location is disclosed, instead of handing that choice to an automatic service. The app passes the displayed location to applications that accept plain text.

You can choose an application and the intended recipients, then send the location by SMS or email, post it through a social network, or place it in a note-taking application. Clipboard copying lets you use the location elsewhere when direct sharing is not the right route. The receiving app and the people who get the location are selected by you, rather than by Location Share.

It suits people sharing their position in a message, social post, or note while retaining control over the audience. Location Share does not track the device’s location in the background and does not send it automatically, so sharing occurs only with people you explicitly choose to tell.
