About
Loopa: Nonlinear Dynamics lets you run mathematical models of nonlinear motion and watch trajectories, attractors, and other outcomes change as you adjust parameters. It gives students, educators, and researchers a practical way to investigate chaos theory, especially the problem of seeing how tiny parameter or initial-condition changes can produce dramatically different behavior.
It includes more than 90 continuous systems, covering Lorenz, Rössler, Chen, Aizawa, Lü, the full Sprott family, hyperchaotic 4D attractors, Duffing, Van der Pol, FitzHugh-Nagumo, Hindmarsh-Rose, Lotka-Volterra, the Chua circuit, and the double pendulum, among others. More than 35 discrete maps include Logistic, Hénon, Tent, Standard, Gauss, Sine, Circle, Lozi, Ikeda, Tinkerbell, Baker, Bogdanov, Kaplan-Yorke, Zaslavskii, and the Arnold cat map, with cobweb diagrams for visual inspection. Two- and three-dimensional phase-space views can show nullclines and flow fields while coloring paths by speed, and the analysis suite supplies bifurcation diagrams, Lyapunov exponents, recurrence plots, basins of attraction, power spectra, sensitivity-to-initial-conditions views, manifolds, and orbit diagrams.
Multiple simulation slots support parallel experiments and side-by-side comparisons, making it easier to isolate the effect of a parameter change. A custom system editor accepts user-defined equations, while a script editor lets users write scripts and apply them to simulations. Results can be exported as SVG, PDF, PNG, or CSV for figures, records, and further analysis.
It suits classroom demonstrations, independent study, and exploratory work by people who need to connect equations with evolving visual behavior. Developed and published by Ilija Ruzic, the commercial Linux education application is at version 2.0.1 and requires Linux with snapd; it supports amd64 and arm64 systems.
Requires Linux + snapd · Architecture: amd64, arm64
