About
Search names, phrases, and other terms across a collection of PDF documents through Lupa Text’s graphical interface. Select a folder, enter the text you want to find, and let the application identify matching files throughout that location. An option to include subfolders makes it practical for organized archives containing several levels of documents.
Each result indicates which PDF contains the term and where it occurs within that file. Page details help you move directly to the relevant passage instead of examining every document from the beginning. Search accuracy depends on the presence of usable OCR text, so scanned PDFs must have undergone optical character recognition before their contents can be searched reliably. Results can vary when the OCR is incomplete, poorly formatted, or otherwise low quality.
Lupa Text suits students, teachers, and researchers examining reading materials, reports, papers, or other PDF collections during document-based study. It is also useful when a research task requires locating recurring names or expressions across many files rather than checking them one at a time. Published by Gessé Cosmo, it is an Education program for Linux and requires snapd alongside the operating system. The current release is version 2.0.0, and the software is distributed as freeware.
