About
maitreya8 creates astrology charts that let users study Vedic and Western methods in the same desktop program. Its combined approach supports comparisons between the two traditions without requiring separate astrology applications. Practitioners, students, and researchers can use the charts for interpretation, learning, and reference.
Charts can also be opened through an external PDF reader for viewing or sharing outside the application. In Settings → Print → PDF viewer → command, entering /usr/bin/xdg-open brings up a dialog for choosing the reader. This makes the program useful in personal study as well as in professional or educational astrology work.
Published by Rajat Pandita, maitreya8 is an open-source Education program for Linux, with current version 8.0.1 requiring snapd on x86_64 (amd64) systems. It supports desktop and UNIX environments, while Android and iOS are not supported. The GNU General Public License permits both private and commercial use.
Requires Linux + snapd · Architecture: x86_64 (amd64)
