Write and revise Markdown in MarkText while viewing the document’s rendered formatting during the editing process. Its WYSIWYG-style preview shows how content will appear without taking you away from the text, making it practical for drafting notes, documentation, and other Markdown files. The editor is designed around a clean interface, quick response, and straightforward writing workflow.

MarkText supports both CommonMark and GitHub Flavored Markdown, along with selected features from Pandoc Markdown. It adds KaTeX mathematical expressions, front matter, emoji support, and paragraph or inline style shortcuts for applying frequent formatting actions. Images can be inserted by pasting them directly from the clipboard. Source Code, Typewriter, and Focus modes offer different ways to work, from editing Markdown syntax to concentrating on the current passage. Finished documents can be exported as HTML or PDF, while themes such as Cadmium Light and Material Dark change the editor’s appearance without altering the document.

MarkText is open-source software from Snapcrafters and is available for Linux under the Productivity category.
