About

Run existing ASP.NET Core web and server applications on Windows with Microsoft ASP.NET Core 3.1 Runtime and Shared Framework. It supplies the Microsoft.AspNetCore.App runtime and shared framework that these applications use while they are running. The underlying .NET Core platform is a general-purpose development platform maintained by Microsoft and the .NET Core community through GitHub.

This package is intended for people who need to operate ASP.NET Core applications, rather than develop or build them. It suits situations such as hosting an established web service or server application on a Windows computer. Applications designed for Windows 7 SP1, Windows Server 2008 R2, or later can be supported by the runtime.

Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 require security update KB2533623 for the supported setup. Its Passive parameter can show the native installer progress window, although that option may not work on Server Core. On 64-bit Windows, the Skip32Bit parameter prevents installation of the 32-bit runtime, and both options can be supplied through the package parameter mechanism during runtime installation. Microsoft provides version 3.1.32 for Windows as freeware in the System Tools category.
