monocles browser

monocles browser is an open-source web browser for Android and belongs to the Internet & Browsers category. It is intended for people who want browser settings that emphasize privacy and safety. This is the first release of the monocles browser.

JavaScript and cookies are disabled by default to provide a more restrictive starting configuration. Users can allow them for trusted domains through the menu when they are needed for better use of monocles pages. The browser includes EasyList ad blocking and supports the Tor Orbot proxy. It also provides SSL certificate pinning, along with tools to import and export settings and bookmarks. The monocles metasearch engine does not store users’ IP addresses or other data.

The browser uses the monocles webview by default, so newer Android versions in the Android 4.4 and later range are important for its use. Users should keep their Android security updates current. MirrorNest distributes the official build directly from its own storage and scans it for malware before publishing it.
