Nextcloud News synchronizes subscribed feeds with the Nextcloud News app, letting you read articles from your Android device while keeping feed status aligned with your own Nextcloud server. The reader offers light and dark themes, customizable list views, adjustable fonts, and an option to mark articles as read while scrolling. It also includes podcast playback, Android Auto integration, and a home-screen widget, making it useful for daily news reading, commuting, and listening to podcast feeds.

This Internet & Browsers app requires a running Nextcloud instance with the News app installed, so it is intended for people already maintaining that server or using one provided to them. The current 0.9.9.96 release runs on Android 5.0 or later, uses Universal architecture, and is distributed as open-source software.

Recent changes include remembering the playback position for podcasts and adding an “All articles” entry to the navigation drawer. The release also fixes search and improves text-to-speech for long articles with pause, resume, and a shortcut to voice settings.
