Capture audio from ASIO-compatible sound devices directly in OBS Studio, bringing low-latency, high-fidelity signals into streaming and compositing workflows with obs-asio. It solves the problem of routing professional or semi-professional audio interfaces into OBS when standard Windows audio paths do not provide the desired performance. ASIO, or Audio Stream Input/Output, is a Steinberg-specified driver protocol that connects software to a computer’s sound card with less latency and greater fidelity than intermediary paths such as DirectSound.

The plugin is aimed at musicians, sound engineers, and streamers working with studio or home-studio hardware. Its JUCE and Bassasio implementations provide the broadest capabilities, supporting both multiple ASIO devices and multiple clients at the same time. Multi-device operation lets OBS use several ASIO devices concurrently, unlike the one-device limitation common in many ASIO-capable applications, including DAWs.

The two PortAudio implementations support multiple clients but not multiple devices; PortAudio v2 can use sources from different devices, although only one device is active at once. The RtAudio implementation is the simplest and is not released, while the project maintains code in the corresponding branches and releases its most stable version. Developed by Andersama and pkv, version 3.2.1f is open-source Windows software for x64 systems, tested on Windows 10 x64, and used alongside OBS Studio. This release adds checksums for its Windows x64 installer and ZIP archive.
