OmniRig lets amateur radio operators control compatible transceivers and receivers from a Windows computer. It provides the CAT engine that acts as the software control layer, allowing radio functions to be operated through compatible computer-based software. The program is aimed at operators building software-assisted radio setups, including situations where a computer must interact with a transceiver or receiver during normal station operation. Its amateur-radio capabilities include a high-resolution world map with geographic and azimuthal projections, helping users view locations and bearings. Ham prefix and QTH lookup tools add identifying and location information, while CQ and ITU Zone data supports common operating and propagation references.

OmniRig is published by Afreet Software and is offered as a System Tools utility for Windows. The current release is version 1.20 and uses the x86 architecture. Users should have compatible ham radio equipment available for its control functions, since the software’s central role is linking computer-based operation with supported transceivers and receivers.
