About
OpenBoard lets educators write, draw, and present lesson content on an interactive digital canvas instead of relying on a physical chalkboard or marker board. Teachers can use the board live during instruction, adding handwritten explanations and visual annotations as a class follows along. Its design is centered on teaching sessions, making the display itself the workspace for explaining ideas and working through material.
The software supports interactive whiteboard use in schools and universities, where instructors can present lessons directly to a class. It also works with a pen-tablet display and a beamer in a dual-screen arrangement, allowing the teacher to write on one surface while students view the enlarged lesson output. This flexibility distinguishes OpenBoard by accommodating both dedicated interactive boards and a separate tablet-and-projector classroom setup.
OpenBoard is education software intended for teachers, lecturers, and other instructors who need an electronic board for classroom or lecture-hall teaching. The current 1.7.7 release runs on Linux systems with snapd and is built for x86_64 (amd64) architecture. It is open-source software, and its cross-platform teaching design is focused specifically on interactive whiteboard instruction.
Requires Linux + snapd · Architecture: x86_64 (amd64)
