OpenChatCut

OpenChatCut is an open-source video editor for Windows that combines conversational agents with professional timeline editing in one workspace. It is intended for people who want to work with an editing agent while retaining direct control over tracks, clips, and other project elements. Instead of treating an agent’s response as a separate instruction, the application writes edits to the actual project.

Those edits can include tracks, clips, transitions, captions, effects, and media. Users can continue editing manually, undo or redo changes, save versions, or pass the project to another agent. The built-in agent and external MCP agents use the same editing tools through the product’s agent-native design. This makes the project itself the shared working area for conversational and manual editing.

OpenChatCut includes a real multi-track timeline with transitions, effects, LUTs, zooms, and keyframes. Its transcript-driven workflow provides word-level transcription and text-based cuts for editing from spoken content. The software also supports generation of images, video, speech, and music, along with WebGL motion graphics. In-browser person segmentation and face-safe zones provide visual geometry tools, while exports can produce MP4, audio, captions, FCPXML, and complete project data.

Projects and media stay on the user’s machine by default, which suits workflows that keep working material local. As a Windows application, it fits a desktop video-editing category while still using in-browser tools for some visual geometry operations.
