OpenOffice4.117.9818

OpenOffice lets users write documents, calculate figures, prepare presentations, draw illustrations, and manage databases from one desktop suite. Its main components are Writer, Calc, Impress, Draw, and Base, covering office work from letters and reports to spreadsheets, slides, diagrams, and structured data. It can read and write files created by other common office software packages, while saving content in an international open-standard format. The software is available in many languages and supports use for any purpose.

It suits home users, students, businesses, public offices, and organizations that need a broad set of office tools on Windows. Templates, clipart, and additional functionality can extend the suite for particular documents or creative projects. Built-in help provides guidance during everyday work, and the project welcomes contributions from people around the world. Published by the Apache Software Foundation, OpenOffice is open-source software for Windows and uses the x86 architecture.

The current 4.117.9818 release is a security and bug-fix update that also includes other corrections and small enhancements. Users running 4.1.16 or earlier are advised to move to this release. Windows 10 and Windows 11 users will soon be able to obtain it through the Microsoft Store in selected languages. Its combination of open-format storage, compatibility with common office files, and separate tools for documents, numbers, presentations, graphics, and databases distinguishes it from a single-purpose office program.
