About
Paste or type text into OPolyglot to translate it directly on a Linux computer, with processing performed locally rather than through an online service. The application uses the Bergamot engine to provide fully offline translation, helping keep the text on the device and preserving privacy. Its Simple Translator handles both manually entered and copied text for conventional translation tasks.
The Screen Translator captures a selected area of the display, recognizes its writing with optical character recognition, and translates the detected text. This is useful for reading foreign-language documents, playing games, or working with applications that have not been localized. Language downloads are implemented through libcurl, allowing the translation resources used by the program to be obtained within its workflow.
OPolyglot suits students, readers, gamers, and Linux users who need local translation for text or screen content. Version v0.3.1 requires Linux with snapd and runs on x86_64 (amd64) systems. It is open-source software developed by Oleksandr Fenenko, and the project’s homepage also presents support for Windows.
Requires Linux + snapd · Architecture: x86_64 (amd64)
