Perplexity Desktop

Perplexity Desktop opens the official Perplexity web application in an Electron window, providing a dedicated desktop way to use the service. It is an unofficial wrapper rather than a separately repackaged edition of Perplexity, and its project and contributors are not affiliated with Perplexity. This format suits people who want Perplexity presented as a standalone productivity workspace instead of another browser tab.

Microphone input is supported after the required system audio setup has been completed.

Ken VanDine publishes this open-source productivity software for Linux systems with snapd, and it runs on x86_64 (amd64) architecture. The current version is 0.5.0-8-gec216cc4cf, so users should account for both the snapd dependency and the supported architecture when selecting it.

Contributors can participate through GitHub by creating an account, while source development uses npm with the cloned project. After the initial source work, npm start is used for subsequent runs, and updates involve pulling the latest master branch and installing any dependencies that changed.
