ps-printer-app lets a Linux computer print to PostScript hardware that may not appear in a driverless printing environment. It supplies the driver layer for setting up physical PostScript printers, giving users a way to handle document and other print jobs from Linux.

OpenPrinting publishes ps-printer-app as an open-source Snap package. Its local web interface at localhost on port 8000 provides Add Printer for configuration and remains the place to administer printers and their available options. Printers currently have to be added through this interface, while additional installed Printer Applications may use subsequent ports. The software supports several thousand PostScript printer models; for a model without explicit support, users can provide its PPD file or select generic PostScript support.

For each configured physical printer, ps-printer-app presents an IPP Everywhere driverless IPP network printer, allowing the Linux printing environment to discover and use it. It suits Linux users and administrators working with PostScript devices, particularly when driverless printing does not expose the hardware.
