PublicArtExplorer uses your location to bring nearby public artworks onto the screen in two taps, helping you discover what is around you while walking or visiting an unfamiliar place. Select an entry to view information about the sculpture, mural, or installation, including details about the work and its artist. It addresses the common gap between encountering outdoor art and finding useful context for it.

The app draws its information from OpenStreetMap and Wikipedia, combining location-based data with descriptive material. Both services are maintained by volunteers, so people can add missing artworks or improve existing details directly in OpenStreetMap and Wikipedia. These contributions help keep the shared public-art resource useful for other explorers.

It suits pedestrians, visitors, residents, and anyone seeking accessible ways to find public art, while also encouraging community participation in improving entries. PublicArtExplorer runs on Android 7.0 or later, supports arm64-v8a and armeabi-v7a devices, and is open-source software in the Navigation & Travel category.

In version 2.3.2, adding an image to an otherwise complete node is easier, and photo-only artwork now receives the artwork tag correctly. The release also moves artwork-server selection into a non-expert setting and makes the PublicArtExplorer artwork (Overpass) server the default after more than six months of stable operation.
