qownnotes26.11.5

qownnotes lets you write and edit plain-text Markdown notes on your computer, keeping the content in files you can work with directly. Its note-taking workflow uses Markdown as the format, so notes remain readable text rather than being confined to a proprietary document structure. The application is designed for people who want a straightforward file-based notebook for study, research, planning, or everyday reference material.

It can optionally connect to the Notes application in Nextcloud or ownCloud, extending its use beyond a standalone Markdown note editor. Nextcloud can sync the Markdown files between devices, while the notes themselves continue to be stored on the computer as plain-text files. qownnotes is a native application intended to use little processor time and memory, and it offers extensive customization and scripting so users can shape its behavior around their preferred workflow.

qownnotes is published by Patrizio Bekerle and is open-source software for Linux. The current version is 26.11.5, and its supported package requires Linux with snapd on x86_64 (amd64) hardware. It fits students, writers, developers, and anyone who wants portable Markdown notes combined with optional cloud synchronization. Its local-file approach also makes the notes convenient to inspect or edit with other text-aware software.
