About
Qwen 3.6 lets Linux users run Alibaba’s instruction-tuned AI model locally from a command-line interface, sending it written prompts or visual input. Its multimodal design allows the model to respond to text while also handling information presented visually. It is intended for people who want an instruction-following model for productivity work involving written and visual material.
Ubuntu distributes the inference model as a Snap package named qwen3-6, providing a snap-based way to run it from the terminal. The qwen3-6 command exposes the command-line interface, while qwen3-6 --help displays its available options. The package is optimized for the silicon on which it runs, but the required host drivers must be installed before use. Ubuntu’s inference snaps driver documentation covers this driver prerequisite.
Linux with snapd is required, and supported architectures are amd64 and arm64. Ubuntu publishes the Productivity software as freeware, while Alibaba provides the model under the Apache 2.0 license. Licenses for bundled software are available inside the Snap at /snap/qwen3-6/current/usr/share/doc. The current version is 2.0.0-beta.14+1dda9e1.
Requires Linux + snapd · Architecture: amd64, arm64
