Rufus4.15

Format a USB flash drive with Rufus and turn it into bootable installation, recovery, or diagnostic media for use on a computer. Rufus 4.15 is an open-source Windows utility built for x64 systems. It formats USB drives, flash cards, and virtual drives as FAT, FAT32, NTFS, UDF, exFAT, ReFS, ext2, or ext3. The resulting media can boot through BIOS or UEFI, including UEFI media using NTFS, and can be made from Windows or Linux ISO files or compressed disk images.

It creates DOS drives with FreeDOS or MS-DOS, Windows 11 installation media for computers without TPM or Secure Boot, and Windows To Go drives on supported removable media. It can also create persistent Linux partitions, produce VHD, VHDX, and FFU images from an existing drive, and calculate MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, or SHA-512 checksums for a selected image.

Rufus validates UEFI boot media at runtime, checks for bad blocks, helps identify fake flash drives, and sets selected Windows installation OOBE choices such as local-account and privacy settings. It can obtain official retail ISO files for Windows 8, Windows 10, and Windows 11, along with UEFI Shell ISO files. Its compact portable design requires no installation, supports Secure Boot, and provides a familiar interface with native support for 38 languages.

In version 4.15, UEFI:NTFS gains RISC-V 64 support, while safeguards around the “silent” Windows installation option are improved, including a fix for failures at 75 percent.
