SchildiChat Next

SchildiChat Next is an open-source chat application for Android. It is based on the Element X app and is a rewrite of SchildiChat for the Android platform. The application is intended for communication across the Matrix network.

Matrix allows users to select a server provider for their account instead of requiring every account to use the same service. Organizations or individuals can also run a Matrix server independently. This server model supports communication across the network while leaving server choice with the user or organization.

SchildiChat Next supports end-to-end encryption and shared message history across multiple devices. It should be treated as beta software because it does not yet provide all the functionality that may be expected from a fully featured chat application. Some capabilities may be different from, or missing compared with, the older SchildiChat implementation.

On MirrorNest, SchildiChat Next is listed under Internet & Browsers for Android. Its open-source license allows the program’s source to be reviewed through its project repository. MirrorNest stores the official build directly on its own storage and scans it for malware before publishing it, providing a direct way to obtain the Android build.
