About

SEPAND sends Farsi character sets to EPSON-compatible printers, allowing a historical MS-DOS resident program to print Persian text through the printer’s own font system. It targets printers that follow the EPSON ESC/P2 standard and retains the original DOS printing workflow. IranSystem encoding is supported, while pressing both Shift keys together switches between Farsi and English.

The Windows package provides a launcher that runs the DOS utility inside DOSBox-X. Running sepand from any directory automatically maps the current directory to drive C: and the SEPAND installation to drive D:, then loads the terminate-and-stay-resident program with its intended parameters. Pressing both Shift keys simultaneously opens the configuration menu. After loading, the TSR remains resident and uses 37KB of conventional memory so its character and language functions stay available to DOS applications.

SEPAND is suited to users maintaining legacy EPSON printing workflows, researching Persian computing, or preserving software from the early 1990s. It was originally named SAHER and was created by Vahid Alimardani as a personal project for learning x86 assembly language. Version 2.1.0 is freeware for Windows, with the launcher and DOSBox-X environment presenting the older DOS program while keeping its printer-specific behavior intact.
