Create, edit, or inspect Windows shell links from a command prompt with Shortcut instead of managing them through a graphical interface. It gives users text-based control over shortcut files for command-line workflows and automated tasks. New links can be generated by providing their settings through command-line instructions. Existing links can be changed when their stored properties need to be updated.

Shortcut can query a shortcut to display the properties available on it, helping users examine how a link is configured. It can also export those properties to an INI-format text file for reading, archiving, or further handling by other text-based processes. The exported file provides a plain-text representation of shortcut details rather than leaving them accessible only through the link.
