SkyTube3.003

SkyTube lets Android users play YouTube videos without advertising, save videos for later viewing, browse channels and playlists, and search for videos, music, and channels. It also displays comments, lets viewers bookmark videos, and provides a subscriptions feed with non-intrusive notifications for subscribed channels. The player supports swipe gestures for volume, brightness, comments, and video descriptions, marks watched or partly watched videos, and can resume playback; playback speed can also be set faster or slower than live video.

This open-source Android client in the Internet & Browsers category includes SponsorBlock for skipping sponsored segments and can show or download video thumbnails. Its discovery tools cover Trending or Featured content and Most Popular videos, while its filtering system can block channels through blacklists or whitelists, exclude videos with low view counts or high dislikes, and hide videos whose language does not match the user’s preferred languages. A toolbar indicator reports how many videos have been blocked, and users can back up or restore bookmarks and subscriptions stored locally on the device.

SkyTube can import existing YouTube subscriptions and operate without a Google or YouTube account or dependence on GApps, including the official YouTube app; it also states that it does not monitor user behavior. Version 3.003 fixes download notifications, and the application runs on Android 4.4 or later, equivalent to API level 19+, using Universal architecture. The project is open-source, incorporates a closed-source third-party library, and is independent of YouTube and its partners or products.
